The Sealed Circle Rite
A formal circle-casting technique for creating a sacred protected space for ritual work.
What You Will Need
Salt or chalk
Used to physically draw or mark the circle on the floor. Salt is traditional and easy to clean up. Chalk works on hard floors. A long piece of string or rope laid in a circle also works.
Four candles
Placed at the cardinal points of the circle: north, south, east, and west. Any candles will do; white is traditional, but use what you have.
Bowl of water
Placed within the circle as the water element. Tap water is fine.
Small dish of salt
Placed within the circle as the earth element. A separate dish from what you use to draw the circle.
Incense or match
Placed or lit within the circle as the fire and air elements. A single stick of incense provides both smoke for air and flame for fire.
Moon Phase & Timing
The sealed circle is a fundamental protective space used before performing any deeper ritual work.
Full Moon: Cast your circle during the full moon for the strongest containment. The circle drawn under a full moon holds energy with exceptional stability.
Waning Moon: A circle cast during the waning moon is particularly effective for protective and banishing work performed within it.
